Falcon Biomanufacturing's June 2017 Trip to New Orleans LA

In June of 2017, seven members of Bertie Early College High School's Falcon Biomanufacturing traveled from Windsor NC to New Orleans LA to attend the ASM Microbe 2017 meeting.

During their four days in the Big Easy, they got to see what an international science meeting looks like.  They attended talks, visited the poster Session, helped present the poster on our program, and explored all that the vendor show had to offer.

In addition to the meeting, they had some time to get out and see some of the city.

This was the second trip Falcon Biomanufacturing has taken to a national science meeting.  it gave the students a chance to appreciate how much they have learned about biology, microbiology, and biotechnology.  To get the chance to see scientists from universities and companies around the world are using the same tools and doing the similar things as them helped drive home what is possible for their future careers.

Walking around New Orleans also gave them the chance to appreciate the unique mix of history, food, and culture that makes up the Crescent City.
